We’re excited to be joining this year’s jubilee, 10th Convention of Natural Building, organized by ZMAG on October 3, 2026 at the Recycled Estate Vukomerić near Velika Gorica. For a decade now, the event has been bringing together builders, architects, researchers, and everyone who cares about sustainable and ecological construction — this year under the banner of four natural materials: earth, straw, stone, and green roofs.
As part of a rich program running from morning until evening — featuring lectures, workshops, and a fair of natural technologies — we’ll be presenting MYCOPOR at 12 PM: our approach to using mycelium-based biocomposites in construction. Mycelium, the root structure of fungi, turns out to be a surprisingly versatile material: it can be grown into lightweight, insulating, and fully biodegradable panels capable of replacing plastic and styrofoam in both construction and packaging.
In our talk, we’ll cover:
- how a new building material grows from agricultural byproducts and mycelium,
- where mycelium-based biocomposites are already replacing synthetic insulation today,
- and why we believe these materials have a future in circular, natural building.
Our presentation is part of the afternoon program, preceded by talks on the sacral building heritage of the Vukomerić hills and the restoration of century-old oak structures, and followed by a session on planning and building a family home from straw bales.
The event is free, no registration required — everyone interested in the future of sustainable construction is welcome!
