In October 2026, the 10th Natural Building Convention (Konvencija prirodnog graditeljstva), organised by ZMAG, took place at the Recycled Estate Vukomerić near Velika Gorica, Croatia. Now in its tenth consecutive year, the anniversary event brought together builders, architects, researchers and everyone interested in sustainable and ecological construction. We sincerely thank ZMAG and Matko Šišak for the invitation and for organising such a successful event.

This year’s convention focused on four key natural building materials: earth, straw, stone and green roofs. All of them are playing an increasingly important role in modern sustainable construction. The emphasis was on solutions for healthy living, a smaller environmental footprint, and the use of natural materials in contemporary building practices.

Sustainable Solutions and Natural Insulation

Visitors were able to explore a wide range of materials and building systems for ecological construction and learn more about their properties. The greatest interest was shown in natural insulation, building energy efficiency, moisture regulation and the creation of a healthy indoor climate.

At the event, we presented our mycelium-based products, with a particular focus on mycelium panels, which offer a sustainable solution for both thermal and acoustic insulation. Visitors were especially interested in their insulating properties, natural origin and potential applications in modern sustainable construction.

Strong Interest in Building with Natural Materials

The event attracted many visitors, who were able to see the products in person and receive expert advice on their use in new builds, renovations and energy retrofits. Conversations throughout the event confirmed that interest in natural building materials, sustainable insulation solutions and ecological construction continues to grow year after year.

Particularly encouraging was the interest in materials that improve building energy efficiency while reducing environmental impact. Investors are increasingly seeking sustainable alternatives to conventional building materials, making such solutions an important part of modern construction.

Sharing Knowledge for a Sustainable Future

The convention remains an important meeting point for professionals to exchange experience and spread knowledge about sustainable building. Events like this help raise awareness of natural materials and encourage the development of solutions that combine energy efficiency, quality of living and environmental responsibility.

Sustainable construction is no longer just a trend but is becoming the standard of the future, in which earth, straw, stone, green roofs and other natural materials play an increasingly important role.
